Final Week - Video

1. When I was a kid, I experimented with stop motion animation and made videos of my dolls. I want to currently make art films now.

2. The quality would be better and it would be easier to control.

3. Art film! Anything involving a kind of Wes Anderson approach. Overall I don't have a specific idea yet.

4. Having a scene were someone is admiring something or when you enhance on something.

5. Instrumental music because I also might want to do a silent film.

Lay Flat Photography

1. Bird's eye view, Becoming the subject, Eye level, and Worm's eye view.
2. Bird's eye view is a higher perspective (above ground) view. Becoming the subject is a perspective from the main subject, eye level is a middle ground flat level, and worm's eye view is a below ground lower view.
3. "it's all in the details" and "adding textures" is advised.
4. A box with a skull on it and various assortments of food.
5. Many but it depends on how it's framed and the main subject.
6. Art supplies on my desk, a painting, a book, a field of flowers.
7. Trying not to have a distracting background and having an obvious main focus.

4. In 2019, the Seahawks have won 11 games and lost 5. The Seattle Seahawks last made the playoffs in 2019, when they lost the Divisional Round. They've been in the playoffs a total of 18 times in their 44 seasons. The UEFA Champions League had the highest prize money pool at 1.3 billion U.S. dollars as of 2019.

Magazines Part II

An Image Based cover is very simplistic and pays attention to the main focus. An Illustration Based cover is a cover that is self illustrated. A Type Based cover is a cover that is mainly made of words. And lastly a Concept Based cover is a cover that revolves around a concept or main subject.

The image of a cover an really emphasize words or phrases. As people, we are very driven by visuals; so it is in our nature to have the image guide us along side the words. Images are the base while words are the details and layers of a piece.

My Favorite Cover

 46. L'Incense

"Pops of bright red are at the top, middle, and bottom of this L’Insensé cover. The red balances and ties the masthead, model and issue theme together and interestingly works to draw the viewer’s gaze to the model’s eyes."

This is my favorite portrait because of the colors and the values. The use of the bright rouge lipstick adds a contrast to the person's complexion while also making her eyes stand out. Seeing as the title of this magazine is "Africa", I feel that the use of this lipstick is intentional to emphasizing the women's complexion. The background also helps pay the viewer pay more attention to the main focus (the women). The position that the model is in reflects beauty and innocence. Another thing about this cover is the fact that the words on the cover match the same color as the rouge lipstick; which makes it stand out even more.

Portrait Photography

  1. Frame Your Subject: 'Framing is a technique where by you draw attention to one element of an image by framing it with another element of the image.'
  2. Alter Your Perspective: 'Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factor.'
  3. Hold Your Camera To An Angle: 'Horizontal and Vertical framings are not the only options when it comes to shooting portraits. While getting your images straight can be important in when shooting in these formats holding your camera on a more diagonal angle can also inject a little fun into your images. This type of framing can add a sense of fun and energy into your shots. Just don’t ‘slightly’ do it or you’ll have people asking themselves if you might have mistakenly held your camera crooked.'

I like the first image because of the color pallet and the personality of the background. I love the second image because I can relate to the person in the image as an artist. Each of these images expresses the persona personality very well.

I admire these self portraits because of the position that each of the people are in along with the outfits and accessories used.

I admire the human essence in these pictures. The top one seems human while the bottom comes off as innocent.

For this project, I want to shoot the image of someone else. I want to shoot in a unique and light friendly environment with a less distracting background. I will try my hardest to pay attention to the background and lighting when it comes to this piece. My idea for this project will involve abstract makeup and possibly flowers and accessories as a prop. I find that face paint and abstract makeup makes me feel like the artist, and the subject is my canvas. It depends on the mood I'm in, but I hope to achieve the kind of aesthetic appeal that I imagine.

Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO

Image result for aperture 2.8 picture

Image result for aperture 16 picture

1. The face or upper body.
2. the smaller the Aperture the larger the depth of field, the higher the Aperture the smaller the depth of field.
3. The lower the aperture, the more likely you will blur out the background noise. The higher the aperture, the more likely you will enhance the main subject with the background.

Image result for high shutter speed picture

Image result for slow shutter speed picture
1. Shooting in a higher ISO allows a more clear image by making it harder to create a blurry image. It would be good for both occasions but it depends.
1. 2.8,4,5.6,8,11,16,22.

1. a. I would use a faster shutter speed to reflect the proper lighting.
b. I would use a slower shutter speed to increase the brightness of the setting.
2. The following settings are fast, slow, and long. Fast shutter speed allows a mid action shot that can capture somethings very quickly. Slow shutter speed allows more lively action and movement into an image. Long shutter speed is similar to Slow shutter speed, yet it works better in a darker setting.

2. It's wiser to use this setting in an average environment. The image can have less noise and be softer.
3. It can be good with ignoring 'motion blur'. It can be hard to use when capturing the proper lighting.

2. 1 second, 1/60 second, 1/4000 second.
3. 100,200,400,800,1600,3200,6400,12800,25600.

Photo Manipulation and Ethnics

A. What are some of the main points you read about in the website above regarding manipulating images?
People have easy access to many programs that can manipulate images. Thanks to the internet, anyone can get access to these programs along with tutorials on how to use them. From this, it can be harder to trust the images that we see.
B. What is the philosophy of newspapers like the Washington Post and the New York times regarding image manipulation?
Newspapers like this manipulate images in a way that would be seen as more 'appealing' to the public eye. They manipulate images to make things appear as more attractive or better.
C. What do you think are acceptable things you could do to an image and not cross the line unto an unethical manipulation?

As an editor or photographer, one could believe that a ethical way to be a photographer is to set rules and limits that would make realistic images for the public eye.
D. uwmadison12
The most unethical thing about this image is the fact that they photoshopped an African American man into the background of this game to make the audience look more 'diverse'. Not only is this a lie to the public but it's straight up ignorant that they tried to not make the crowd 'not white'.
E.
ojsimpson12

This image over exaggerates the appearance of OJ Simpson. Personally I think he's cruel but this kind of stuff is fairly common in the media. Personally I still think it's bad to over exaggerate a person like this but I honestly don't think that it's the biggest deal.

2019 Recap

Ethiopian migrant Mohammed Hussein, who is severely malnourished from imprisonment by smugglers, stands on a scale at the Ras al-Ara Hospital in Lahj, Yemen, on Aug. 1. The 19-year-old weighs 31 kilograms (68 pounds).

This image created a very devastating and melon collie setting. From the purpose of the image, it is well reflected through this grotesque image.

The toll at New York Fashion Week in September.

I felt that I genially relate to the message of this image. The image is very compelling and the since the background is dull, it makes the legs stand out more.

Young men smash shop windows on the first day of protests in Beirut on Oct. 18. After nearly two weeks of anti-government demonstrations aimed at dismantling the country's political system, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri resigned.

This image captures a very piercing setting while also capturing the purpose of these peoples acts very well. The image fits the description of the image very well.

 Igor - Tyler, the Creator.jpg
1. I believe that the best song that was released in 2019 is 'Are We Still Friends' by Tyler, the Creator off the album Igor. This entire album features many experimentations with genres such as soul and R&B. This album absolutely contrasts with Tyler's previous works from the past, and with this album he was able to mature his career. The thing that makes 'Are We Still Friends' one of the best songs of 2019 is the remarkable productions and vocals and samples from the iconic soul musician from the 70s Al Green. Personally, this song changed my life and it definitely touched me as a work of art.
Image result for It Chapter Two
2. Personally, I wasn't able to see many movies from 2019. As far as I know, 'It Chapter Two' is a pretty well done movie. As far as I know, this is the best movie that I've seen of 2019. The camera work and the graphics were remarkable and the story line was more similar to the book then the first movie. This movie ended the 'It' series pretty well. Overall it was a very solid film and I highly recommend it to any horror film admirers.
Slide 14 of 31
3. I am not fully aware of what the worlds most important news article, but personally I would say that this is one of them. On April 10th 2019 Nasa captured a successful image of a black hole using the Event Horizon Telescope. It is located in the Messier 87 galaxy 500 million trillion km away from Earth. This article is important because this event will go down in history and it will be forever known as an iconic moment.
Image result for society
4. I would say that the most important person is actually society itself. Throughout many moments in 2019, citizens of the world were able to achieve many remarkable things. All though their are many disagreements within our selves, their will always be a way out of them. With out the adaptations of our society, we wouldn't be as advanced as we are today. As time continues, we will grow as a collective.
Image result for kanye west 2019
5. I would say that one of the most captivating entertainment stories would involve Kanye West's journey with god. With the album 'Jesus is King' being released in 2019, Kanye becomes more open with his perspectives on christianity. Judging by his partially atheist past with albums such as 'Yeezus', many fans were shocked on the matter. This possibly isn't the largest entertainment story of 2019, but it was very large when it was out in the open and it still is for Kanye to this day.

1. I remember on December 26 2019, my family came to the conclusion to get a dog. Her name is Beatrix and she's a french bulldog with 10 months of age. I will remember that day for the rest of my life.

2. I hope for 2020 to be the year when I get my license and hopefully a stable job. And if possible, I would love to become an artist that does partial commissions or has art displayed in galleys.

3. I'm looking forward to turning 16 and gaining more responsibilities and looking forward to my future.
